When the family first saw this home, they fell for its midcentury modern bones, sweeping views of Puget Sound, Mt. Rainier, and the Cascades, and its abundant natural light. Over the decades, a series of renovations blurred its midcentury modern character. This project restores and honors the home’s 1965 origins through thoughtful updates that improve function, simplify materials, and let its midcentury details shine. Beginning with the kitchen, the design maximizes storage and prep space while improving flow—using timeless stone and wood, clean lines, and a consolidated interior storage wall to open the exterior to daylight and a stronger connection to the deck.
