Our Studio
EBBE & BREY is a partnership shaped by complementary strengths and a shared commitment to thoughtful design. Ebbe, derived from Danish, speaks to strength and courage and the movement of the ocean’s tide; Brey, from Khmer, evokes the forest—grounded and evolving. Together, they represent a balance between resilience and sensitivity, clarity and nuance—principles that guide our work from concept through completion.
We are an architecture studio based in Seattle, Washington, founded by two friends who met in their first-year architecture studio at the University of Oregon. United by a shared love of nature with deep roots in the Pacific Northwest, and a commitment to meaningful collaboration, our work is shaped by our spirit of curiosity and adventure.
Sophie Hong, AIA
Partner | Co-founder
Sophie approaches architecture as a partnership between people and place, shaping spaces that empower and support the way life unfolds within them. A thoughtful collaborator, she brings curiosity, care, and a methodical, detail-oriented approach to each project, seeking to quietly resolve complexity through clear, resilient design.
Born and raised in Oregon, Sophie earned her Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Oregon before moving to Seattle, drawn by its vibrant city life and surrounding landscape of water and mountains. Outside of practice, she enjoys snowboarding, hiking, traveling, and exploring new neighborhoods, while staying engaged in her community through organizations including Big Brothers Big Sisters, Room for More, and ACE Mentors.
Shannon Hunt, AIA
Partner | Co-founder
Shannon is a collaborative design leader known for listening deeply, synthesizing diverse perspectives, and translating complex challenges into clear, thoughtful design solutions. A relentless optimist, Shannon approaches design as an artful form of problem-solving. Her work spans learning and healing environments, community engagement, and residential design, earning several regional and national design awards.
She is actively engaged in the architectural and education communities through leadership roles with AIA Seattle and A4LE, conference presentations, and collaboration with the UW College of Built Environments. Outside of work, Shannon enjoys time with her growing family and goofy pup Benny, exploring the Pacific Northwest, and finding inspiration through gardening, camping, and beachcombing.
Milla | Support Staff
Milla is a sweet silly pup wanting to always play. She loves to show off her athletic skills, obsessed with catching a ball and excels at cuddling on the couch.
Benny | Support Staff
This floofer is always smiling and ready to welcome new friends. A true companion, Benny loves being surrounded by his favorite people, treats, and well-loved stuffies—and will happily join for any walk, car ride, or gathering.
